Yes Guys, I Listen to Japanese Music.

It seems that Football Manager 2011, like it's predecessor, Football Manager 2010 is not made for my laptop. The same problem persists, even after I installed the original Windows 7, which led me to think that I either have to bring it to the shops and ask for what exactly is the matter (and costs me money to get it fixed) or give up hopes altogether and save money; simply play the first season and delete the file and imagine what could've been if I can get a few more seasons going which the laptop isn't giving, which is of course, depressing.

And so I decided to take a break from being a football manager and have a serious online session. It has been a long time now since my last serious internet session. Ever since I got home for the semester break, the longest I went online was 4 hours, and that was an odd one out since I only got online like an average less than an hour/day, everyday since I got home cos of my Football Manager addiction :B

That's when I opened up the WMP, set it at random and suddenly it played a "Brilliant Green" song. It was bliss.

For those who are alien to Japanese pop culture and music, or even if you are a fan (cos there's a good chance you have no idea of who they are, they're like a Jpop/Jrock best kept secret, I think), the band consists of 3 members. 2 guys and a girl. I can't remember the name of the guys but the female lead's name is Tomoko Kawase, one of those serious celebrity crushes I had when I was still an innocent school going kid. She's like the ultimate cute rock chick out there. Every aspiring rock chick out there should shun away from Avril Lavigne or Miley Sirus(sp?) cos Tommy (Tomoko Kawase) sets the standard right. Like seriously.

And since I just rediscovered the band after a long while, she has now returned to my personal list of babes I seriously consider wanting to get married with (which is a top 5 list that changes periodically according to time and taste, and Megan McCormick of Glob Trekker fame and Lisa Surihani are currently battling out for top spot :B ) after a long hiatus.

Anyways, it has been a long time now since I last seriously listen to Japanese songs. And I welcome this return to "Japanese-ness". The band was my favourite during my high school days. That and Radiohead. And with that it brings nostalgia. It seems that I have gone a long way now, music-taste wise, in that the laptop and the CDs in my car have been playing post-rock, alternative, down tempo electronics, alt folk, experimental pop, prog, blues, classical and jazz (how musically eclectic I am surprisingly, though there's still no room for hip hop(barring Asher Roth. Hey look, a bracket in a bracket!) and trashy MTV fodders) over the years since then.

I remember that this is one of the earliest bands which music I downloaded online (remember 2003/04, the days when Streamyx was awesome? And the now defunct Kazaa?). I used to have all of their albums in my music library and I used to scour the music stores to see whether they sell The Brilliant Green CDs, which if they did I would've already owned legal physical copies of them, which is of course not the case. Some of their songs are in my lifetime favourites. I remember listening to them, enjoying good honest rock n' roll before I got myself exposed to complex experimental music of Radiohead, Sigur Ros and the others over the years which is not entirely a bad thing. I remember listening to them every time I went online after school back then. I remember listening to some of their songs over and over again for weeks and never got tired of it.

I miss 2003, it was all perfect back then.

P/s : Apparently, I had missed out on Buriguri when they released an album in 2007. And they had just released another one this year! This is one of the new songs from Buriguri (The Brilliant Green). Enjoy ;D

Due to the (admittedly) insensitive nature of the post under the same title, and the fact that my blog has become surprisingly popular and reaches far and wide, including the intended target of my post, the original post has been removed after 12 hours in cyberspace, to avoid further conflict and as a demonstration of peace.

To the person concerned, thank you very much for the ice-cream, I love Cornetto, and if possible, I would love to make it up to you by asking you out to dinner. No, I do not want the money for the car scratch, because my dad said it was ok. The only reason I went high and mighty in my ranting was that I was in the mood for angry upsetness towards a kampung midget I am currently having issues with. And that person is not you.

As Malaysians all over the world are celebrating the joyous festival of Eid Mubarak, it is hard for them not to control the urge to pig themselves out the various Malaysia Raya-themed cholesterol rich delicacies.

Popular dishes such as the classic 'ketupat', 'lemang', 'pulut kuning' and the spicy santan-rich 'rendang ayam' to the modern day favourites like 'nasi daging with dalca', 'chocolate cake with Betty Crocker Super Fucking Sweet Choco-frostings' and 'kuih tunjuk pelbagai' are taking valuable spaces off the dining tables, coffee tables, study tables and even the stools of homes across the country. And the spaces of the country's populations' tummies aren't spared either.

This comes as no surprise as to the fact that an

outdated statistics dating back April 7th 2006 by the NST reported that a whopping 3 million Malaysians are affected with high cholesterol, with 2.1 million of them suffering from diabetes. Obese people counted for more than 25% of the country's populace. It's like saying 1 out 4 people we know are fat arse!

Therefore, in the spirit of Hari Raya, we have asked the people around on how to behave ourselves in front of the super high cholesterol yummies while doing the visits to friends' and families' open house and keep our waist size sexy.

And as usual, Raya tv is boring like hell as mak cik Siti Nurhaliza and stupid movies with tasteless jokes are conquering every tv channel there is on Astro. But this year's Raya, "Laskar Pelangi" showed that quality Raya tv is not dead, yet. A meaningful, inspirational and highly moving. I almost cried if not for my relatives being around. Lintang deserves better. And I should be grateful for what I have. Alhamdulillah...

Oh well, I still have time to rant, and here goes :

1. Miss Cikin sent me a fb msg which read "Exam : Read textbook n do past year exam quest". Yes, it doesn't sound like a proper sentence, but still it's quite disturbing to receive a PM from a lecturer telling you to actually start STUDYING!
2. I realized that cycling at night is fun.
3. Tests and assignments do not just kill the human kind in the long run (read- it is scientifically proven that stress leads to diseases and reduce one's life span) , they kill trees too, in the short run. :B
4. This is cheesy, but we wore blue today!!! Yay!!!
   
5. I need to ask my parents to get me a car, if I score a DL. I just need one mama!!! Mamaaaa can larrrr!!!
   
6. My laptop's WMP library has gone haywire. I'm finding it hard to get it sorted out, I might just give up.
7. I'm planning to make a super complete check list that will make my life more meaningful just like the one in Mike Gayle's The To-Do List. And complete the tasks in it. >.<
8. Procrastination hampers progress. It does!
   
9. I had my 3-weeks worth of laundry sent to Umie for washing a couple of days ago and now my wardrobe smells of floral detergent. And I'm happy :D
10. I still haven't paid the graduation fees, haven't done the clearance, and still thinking of which elective subject to choose from. Need to get these sorted out quick. By 10pm today perhaps? Do not procrastinate Zaid!
11. Faye Wong is perhaps the Chinese equivalent of Bjork or Tori Amos. Her brand of music is amazing!
12. I just bought a pack of cereal drinks. Should have thought of buying them way earlier in the semester so that I won't get myself starved during untimely moments.

The Girl From Kemunting

I had a great chat with a wonderful girl while on the way back home from Arau two nights ago.

It all started when I boarded the KTM train, with a no-seat-guaranteed written on its ticket. Which got me kinda confused at how things go at KTM. They can sell tickets to those returning to anywhere but Kedah/Penang a few weeks earlier and those returning to the said destinations can only buy the ticket on boarding day!? WTF??? Which guarantees a no-seat trip, and leg cramps - to Alor Setar at least.

But I was lucky to meet Jeha - an ACELS member during my time as president (kena mention ke??? xD) - who generously gave away her seat to me so that she can seat with her bf (eh?); after noticing I was standing like a tortured soul whose having leg cramps for about 1 hour, and staring at her like a possessed cayote desperate to get his arse sitting.

I would like to say thank you.

And so, I was seating at her place. Right next to a decent looking chick (score!), but she was sleeping, but she looks sooo cute while sleeping T.T... and so, I laid my boney arse into the surprisingly comfy chair, and somehow I woke her up from her sleep... like... alamak!

But somehow, after a few odd minutes, we chat... out of boredom of not being able to sleep and in her case - returning to sleep. And from then on I realised how pure and sincere this girl is, unlike most girls I see back in campus who are mostly posers who fancy the US version of mamak stall - starbucks - or any other Israel financiers and machine-made designer labels and act sif they're super hot. She is different and in fact, from how I see it, has a very strong personality, and she's fun to be with!

So she's a part 2 agro student from Kemunting. Her name is Mira and she's third in the family, and she lives with her young and sporting stepmom together with 7 other siblings. Her dad died last year, years after her mom's, but somehow I see that she got over it very well, as if she has got used to it. She's smart, she knows what she is talking about and she almost scored a dean's list last sem! Apart from the fact that she's kinda hot and single, I clearly think I've met my match. It was the best chat I've had in a while and the usually long hours in the train felt very short.

And I forgot to ask for her number :B



But I shall try! This could be one of those how-I-met -your-mother/romantic valentine's day story!

...I created the twitter account yesterday. After 2 months of internet inactivity from my laptop resulted from default broadband bills.

In another news, AC Milan continued their terrible form from pre-season with a 0-0 draw to a team tipped for relegation from seria A, livorno last saturday. although it has only been 3 competetive matches, it seems all hope is lost for a silverware this season. The transfer policy makes me sick to the core. Talking about being sick, i had one of the worst fever i can remember. It was a 40 celcius and i was left limping on my bed, unable to turn my body sideways. I missed the grad year dinner, got myself a 1 week break and it was the 3rd fever i had this semester.

I thought i could die.

I shopped at topman for my baju raya during the swine flu break. I bought a straw hat for rm39. I wanna go to essex to study accounting with finance. Or maybe, banking with finance. Malaysian politics has gone from worse to worst. I wanna get married quick coz i cant hold it much longer. I'm just so happy to have my internet back. I cant stop listening to empire of the sun's walking on a dream.

Barring Westlife, BSB, and Take That(you guys are the best!) i can't seem to digest the musical exploits of teenage boys and boys in their 20's whether them being a group (boybands) or a solo artist (mostly a boyband ex-numbers).

These artists/performers generally gave me the impression of them being gay - though a former member of westlife confessed that he's indeed one -

Holiday Program List

I'll be having my break till July.

Since I'm not a fan of a "8-hour-part-time job" and the bloody swine flu chose a rather untimely period for an outbreak which hampers any move to get my father agreeing to a overseas holiday, I hereby have successfully laid out a list of my own holiday program which, I really do hope I have the discipline to at least follow 3 of them. Here goes;

1. Learn how to cook. No more frying frozen food.
2. Learn a new language. Either French, Japanese or Mandarin (not just the cursewords).
3. Change the blog layout. Its long overdued. Even the songs are not playing full.
4. Plan a beach holiday with friends.
5. Get to know those "unknowns" in my msn/ym. Its about time.
6. Dig deeper those "related artists" in my last.fm
7. Hangout with friends. Movies, pool, arcade, mamak, anywhere! (Now this is something I can do)
8. Learn a new skill. I can't think of one at the moment.
9. Fix the guitar. And learn a new song. (dah 3 sem)
10. Read books. Thomas Harris = awesomeness

That goes without saying the watch-tv and play-football-manager programs. I will return to my campus next wednesday coz I'm one of the runners for the Arau Open 09. WTF?

I have been looking for the song name for two days now and I still cannot find it. Damn!

The US stock exchange has gone on a rally for a few past days but I'm expecting it to still be tied to a bearish market range since it doesn't get past the resistance level. Same goes to Bursa Malaysia. Of course!

Recovery period is definitely not within this year. Time to buy securities?

Cases of swine flu in Malaysia has been reported. There are 2 confirmed cases and both are reported in Penang. One in Bukit Mertajam. Of all places.

Precious Illusions

So lately I've been listening to some old tunes i hear from schooldays. Songs from artists such as radiohead, alanis morissette, bjork and matchbox twenty keeps on playing in my wmp. In fact, i had just rediscovered my love for japanese music and in particular the band called the Brilliant Green and not to forget their oh so sexy frontlady tomoko kawase!!!

That got me thinking though. Whenever examination time approaches i always tend to resort to some music and this time it makes me want to rekindle my schooldays...

its a new release, just been released this week actually and i saw it on channel [v]'s record shop yesterday and simply put, genius! it has been a loooong time since i watched anything as good as this since radiohead's just. we need more of this...


anyways, another new release is on today. arguably(sp?) the best band on the planet -radiohead- had released their 7th studio album after a very very long 5 years called "in rainbows" and its available for downloads starting today at here. so i can pay whatever i want for the album, but i need a hardcopy for this one. im a fan. based from a reputable source, i might have to wait for next year till its available in stores.

have to start saving rm40 today!
